During the weekend of Wild Turkey Fest, there is also going to be a celebrity scarecrow contest!
The contest is free to participate in.
Entry forms will be available at City Hall.
Entries will either be grouped into School/Youth Groups, Families/Individuals, & Organizations/Businesses.
The scarecrows must be displayed by Wednesday, October 16th. Judging will take place on Thursday, October 17th.
Prizes will be awarded in each category by non-Caledonia residents.
Scarecrows can stay up on display until Saturday, November 2nd.
Participants are responsible for setup and cleanup of their materials, and no materials may be left on the ground.
Scarecrows must be family friendly.
Tips for making your scarecrow
Plastic bags make the best stuffing. Newspaper and water-soluble peanuts are not recommended because they do not hold up in harsh weather.
The face can be sad, cheerful, beautiful, ugly, or angry. Masks are allowed for the contest.
Hair can be made from a variety of materials, including yarn, pipe cleaners, shredded plastic, beads, moss, rope, raffia, mop head or torn fabric.
You can add hats, gloves, shoes, scarves, and any other appropriate props.
Scarecrow head materials can include old milk jugs, flower pots, gourds, wood, basketball, plastic pumpkin, stuffed pillowcase, burlap, or anything of the like.
