The Caledonia Fire Department was established in 1889 and has a Class 4 ISO rating. The district is about 140 square miles and protects about 5,500 residents. The department’s 34 members are ready 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and respond to approximately 60 calls each year. Types of calls include structure fires, wildland fires, search and rescue, motor vehicle accidents, motor vehicle fires, carbon monoxide alarms, and hazardous materials incidents. The department has two engines, one rescue engine, one tower truck, two tankers, one brush truck, and one UTV. In October of each year members participate in Fire Prevention Week, providing fire safety and prevention information to elementary school students.
