Update Regarding Summer Rec Sign-Up Deadline & Schedule

Dear parents and players,

Regrettably, the current COVID-19 pandemic affecting the state and country is creating uncertainty regarding the City’s 2020 summer baseball and softball season. As many of you are aware, the City’s baseball and softball teams (ages 9U – 14U) play in the Coulee Region Sports League. The Coulee Region Sports League sets the registration deadline for when cities like Caledonia must submit their teams. This year the Coulee Region Sports League set a deadline of April 24, which is why the City’s registration deadline was April 10.

The City is currently waiting for an update from the Coulee Region Sports League, as well as our state government officials, to see whether there are any changes to the upcoming summer rec season due to COVID-19. As a result, the City is extending the registration deadline for 9U – 14 U players to Friday, April 17. This will give the City one week to finalize teams prior to the April 24 deadline, assuming the Coulee Region Sports League proceeds as planned.

The City is going to be extending the registration deadline for pee wee and tee ball players to Friday, May 1. The City normally uses the same registration deadline for 9U – 14U and pee wee/tee ball because players are sometimes shifted among these divisions when the 9U – 14U teams are created. It also takes time to order shirts, hats, etc. This year, however, in an effort to offer pee wee/tee ball this summer, the City is extending the deadline. The City may also adjust the season dates if necessary. This will be re-evaluated at the end of April when hopefully there is more clarity regarding how long COVID-19 will be impacting our community.

There are a couple of ways to register for the summer baseball and softball program. Although City Hall is temporarily closed to the public, the City will be taking sign-ups via the drop-box outside of City Hall or by mail. Please put the registration forms in an envelope with either a check or cash for the exact amount. If the Coulee Region Sports League cancels the upcoming season, registration fees will be refunded. Similarly, registration fees for pee wee/tee ball will be refunded if the season is canceled.

We appreciate your support in this difficult time of uncertainty. Thank you to all who have registered thus far and have reached out to us with your questions and concerns. We are all in this together and we remain Caledonia Proud!

Please follow the Caledonia Summer Recreation Program Facebook page to stay up to date with any potential changes to the upcoming summer rec season. If you have any questions, send us a message on Facebook or by email at caledoniaparkrec@hotmail.com.
